Vland Leads Establishment of Research Center on High-Value Industrial Development of Highland Barley

The Tibet Autonomous Region Investment Promotion Conference was held in Qingdao on September 28. Representatives from Tibet’s Shigatse City, Shannan City, Nyingchi City, Nagqu City and Ngari Region attended. Mr. Hui Xin'an, deputy secretary of Qingdao Municipal Party Committee, and Mr. Liao Ken, deputy secretary of Shigatse Municipal Party Committee delivered speeches. The conference was moderated by Mr. Ma Jindong, executive deputy mayor of Shigatse.

In order to accelerate the high-value development of highland barley industry and broaden its application, the Research Center on High-Value Industrial Development of Highland Barley led by Vland Biotech was established. All center members will work closely to develop and launch new highland barley products with market as the orientation, an act which will gradually shift the highland barley industry from extensive processing to a development towards high values, functions and health.

As a unique crop of plateau, Tibetan highland barley contains various natural active substances such as β-glucan, γ-aminobutyric acid, polyphenols, flavonoids and anthocyanins. The in-depth development of these functional ingredients will greatly increase the industrial value of highland barley. Vland will leverage on its advanced biotechnologies and take an active part in the high-value development of highland barley used in food industry.
